Beginning yoga students have a better experience when they plan in advance allowing ample time for proper hydration and nutrition. Good hydration supports the healthy function of all bodily systems and makes the heat more comfortable. Come to class with an empty stomach. Large meals should be avoided 2-3 hours before class. A light, healthy snack is fine 1-2 hours before class.

Arrive 20-30 minutes early for your first class. You may register in studio or online. This also allows for plenty of time for orientation. Be sure to read our online Etiquette and FAQ.

Bring a large towel, yoga mat, and a large bottle of water. These items are also available for rent and purchase at the studio.

Dress comfortably and be ready to sweat! Women are most comfortable in shorts or capris, tank tops or sports bras. Men are most comfortable in shorts or swim trunks. No sweat pants will be allowed during class. Consider bringing a change of clothes for after class as well as a bag to carry home your wet clothing.

Come to class with a positive outlook!

Remember yoga is something one learns and every single one of us started out as a beginner. Your yoga practice is much like learning to play an instrument or speak a foreign language; a little effort everyday goes a long way.

Take your second class within 24 hours. Class will be much easier the second day and it will help relieve sore muscles.

In order to be effective, it is best yoga be practiced daily or on a regular basis with no long lapses of time between lessons. We recommend a minimum of 10 classes in your first two weeks to create a lighter, energized, healthier you and set a strong foundation for your practice.
